About Wahyu Setioko

Wahyu Setioko, also known as Koko, is the Head of the Primary Teacher Education Department at BINUS University. He holds a Ph.D. in STEM Education from The Ohio State University, USA, with a minor in Teaching in Virtual Environments. His academic work focuses on informal STEM education, STEM teacher education, elementary science education, integrated STEM education, environmental education, education for sustainable development (ESD), and the use of digital games and emerging technologies for learning.

Over the past decade, Wahyu has dedicated his career to advancing education and human development in Indonesia through diverse learning environments. His professional experiences span science museums, rural education initiatives, curriculum development, teacher professional development, nonprofit educational programs, international development projects, and online learning initiatives. These experiences shape his interdisciplinary perspective on how meaningful learning can occur across formal, informal, and digital contexts.

At BINUS University, Wahyu works to strengthen the preparation of future primary school teachers by integrating innovative pedagogies, digital technologies, and interdisciplinary STEM approaches into teacher education. His research explores how STEM learning, environmental awareness, and sustainability perspectives can be fostered through informal learning environments, digital games, and community-based learning programs.

Wahyu is a strong advocate for Open Education and Education for All. Through his teaching, research, and community engagement, he aims to expand access to quality education and empower educators to design inclusive, engaging, and sustainability-oriented learning experiences.
