Freddy Widya Ariesta is a lecturer in the Primary Teacher Education Department at Bina Nusantara University (BINUS). His expertise includes Elementary Social Studies Education, Character Education, and Learning Model Research and Development. He focuses on developing virtual reality–based learning media for elementary social studies to enhance students’ historical literacy and support character development in primary education.
Education Background
Freddy Widya Ariesta earned his Bachelor of Education from Universitas Negeri Semarang in 2011, with a thesis on the development of instructional media for elementary social studies learning. He later completed his Master of Education at the same institution in 2015, focusing on the development of the SCAPBERMAS learning model to foster character development among elementary students. In 2024, he obtained his Doctorate from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, with research centered on the development of the SICA-VR learning model, a virtual reality–based approach designed to strengthen nationalism character in elementary school students.
Academic Work and Research
Since joining Bina Nusantara University, Freddy Widya Ariesta has made significant contributions to both teaching and research. His current work focuses on the development of instructional media and learning models for elementary social studies education.
He also integrates ethnopedagogical approaches to internalize local wisdom values in classroom learning. Additionally, he actively bridges academic research with elementary education practice, employing a process-oriented and contextual teaching approach to prepare pre-service teachers to address contemporary educational challenges.
